The 2008 inaugural issue of Bloodroot features work from 23 authors from across the United States. Four
readings took place during the year, most often to overflow audiences. The success of Bloodroot encouraged the editors to apply for tax-exempt
status, national distribution and to offer a contest for the 2010 issue.
